Time for some spring cleaning.
It’s that time of year again… Specifically, the time when you realize you’ve spent all winter downloading apps you never use, movies you never watch, and installing software you needed for one specific use and are never going to need for the next ten years.
It’s bad enough that I have a bunch of bloated programs hanging around in Hard Drive Land, but they all bring their little entourage of useless support files with them (heck, Entourage itself is a useless file… ZING!).
One of these days I’d like to see some UI mandate from Apple where there’s an actual menu item to uninstall a program and all of its friends. Seriously, right there in the Apple menu. Right under “Force Quit”. Sure, give it ten layers of “Are you sure you want to do this?” dialogs before actually uninstalling, but make it easier to clean up.
In the mean time, don’t be surprised if I’m quiet for a day or three, I’ll be giving my hard drive an enema.
