Greetings, Ninja Fans!

Hi there! If you’re wondering what happened to the YouTube video of Ninjas and Pirates, don’t fret. The producers of the video have apologized profusely for using my music without asking permission beforehand. I didn’t expect YouTube to act so fast either, considering I’m not an evil minion of the RIAA or anything. Anyhoo, rest assured we’re working on getting the video put back up again (this time giving credit to the musicians who made it possible).

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, don’t worry… if this turns out the way I’m hoping, I’ll be adding a lot more details in future posts!

Update: Almost ready to actually embed the video right here on matthewebel.com. Stay tuned!

P.S.: If you liked what you read, please share it with others!

    Matt -

My unwitting contribution was the song “Everybody Needs A Ninja“. I don’t know where they got the other tune, but I hope they’re asking permission to use that one before they re-up the video.

    Dirk -

Thanks for pointing out the other discussion going on. It’s good to see that some people are indeed aware that copyrights exist to protect starving artists like me, not make the RIAA richer and meaner. Fortunately, I’m not RIAA-backed and I can actually talk to the video’s producers to make sure they’re doing things right.

It’s not about what’s legal, after all, it’s about what’s right. They seem to understand that, I hope their fans will too. :)

I gotta admit, I would never have heard any of your music without the youtube post.
Looking forward to checking out more of your tunes.

full time ninjas movie….. time will tell, I suppose… kinda funny?

Thank you for your prompt and courteous reply.

Yes using Matthew’s song was very un-ninja honorable behavior us indeed especially to a fellow starving artist just trying to do his thing. The whole protest prank was very guerilla but yet we should have taken the time to talk to the man himself as it could be a win win as countless viewers have emailed asking where they can buy the song. I hope we can work something out.

Again, we really and sincerely apologize and have learned a lesson here in that if we are striving to be professionals we have to act professional and can’t get away with Junior High-type music lifting antics. Especially to someone who is so easy to get in contact with.

We apologize to Matthew and his fans and look forward to righting the wrong and getting on with the business of exposing new fans to this talented artist.

We bow our ninja heads in shame and have seppuku swords at the ready… on your word Sensei Ebel…

Hey Matthew. I first heard about your music through seeing that video. I’m glad I saw it, because your stuff is great.

I’m really glad the guys who made the video are working with you to give you proper credit. It’s a funny video, and helping to spread your tunes is good times. :)
