I unsubscribed from one type of list, and continued to get more. Digging into it, I found that I had been subscribed to a number of their notifications, and it took me about a minute to go through and find a link on the page to force-unsubscribe me from everything they have. When unsubscribing, choose to manage subscriptions. There is a link near the top of that page to unsubscribe from all lists. As you point out, there should be an option to not subscribe to any ads. The reason I did not complain sooner is that I figured I simply missed it. However, now that others are also complaining, it makes me wonder whether I did.
