ENN: My New Year's Resolution

ENN December 28, 2009

It’s time for the New Year’s Resolution: TOUR. Now that Matthew Ebel dot net is off the ground, I can actually try to get out on the road like a real, live musical act. Imagine that!

Here’s what I need from you: Your hometown. Before I can go on tour, I need to know where you are! There are two ways to do that…

Podsafe For Peace – A Look Back

Podsafe For Peace I just listened to a retrospective post from the talented Slau, the guy that produced Podsafe For Peace and I’m suddenly remembering what it felt like to be excited about podcasting again. If you were around for the birth of New Media (or if you’d just like to know what it was like working with all the other big names in New Media Music), you’ve got to take a listen to this. Slau released this as the latest edition of his own podcast, Sessions with Slau.

And yes, the Podsafe For Peace song is at the end of the episode!

I'll Have A Gold Christmas

December in Ocean Shores, WA

December in Ocean Shores, WA

When I travel to the west coast I’m treated to something I don’t get to see very often- sunrise. Especially in the winter time when the sun sleeps in past 10 AM (by my east-coast clock anyway). I wish I owned a nice DSLR, a telephoto lens, and had the practice to take good photos… In a place like this, good scenes aren’t hard to find. These are the kinds of mornings that make me a morning person.

For you camera nerds, this was taken with a Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG65 still/video point-and-shoot. It’s tiny, usually what I use on the ski hill for action shots, but the quality always surprises me.

Making The High Orbit Holiday Special

My room mate (and the voice of the evil Mr. Bruce) shot and edited this brief glimpse of life in the studio while I was recording The High Orbit Holiday Special. If you ever wondered what kind of process goes into making an album/episode like this, well… take a look.

Of course, the album is available right now via and

Join The Conversation, Again

Facebook DiscussionsI know, I know, discussion boards are like, sooooo 2001, but they remain alive on Facebook and I’d love to see you guys talking among yourselves. I’m really curious about two topics in particular:

How can I get to your town without going broke?
I really want to tour in 2010, but if I go broke trying there will be no more music from me. I’m hoping none of you want that, so I’d love to see what you guys can collaborate on to make some performances possible (especially the far-out ones like California or Canada)
What conventions and festivals should I hit?
Yeah, I’ve played tech conventions and Furry conventions, but I’d love to see what other mass events I can bring my music to where it would be appreciated. If you folks can help me get to more of these big events and get onstage, I’ll be able to see a lot more of you in person!

Yeah, I started these two topics, but this is a discussion board… so discuss! Add your own topics to the board if you like, I just want to see what you guys can come up with. I really need your help on those two topics, tho, so talk to each other and let’s see how powerful the Robot Army can be!

All-Nighter or Early Riser

It’s Christmas travel season and I’m going to see my family back in WA this year. For lack of an intergalactic starship, I get to wedge myself into a tiny steel tube with a few hundred flu carriers for an entire day. Even better, I get to catch a 3:15 AM shuttle to do it. This, my friends, is traveling rock-star class.

I could play this one of two ways- stay up all night drinking and partying and show up at Logan International looking like Keith Richards and smelling like the fat Elvis, or I could try and get some sleep (and fail), wake up at 2:30, and show up at Logan looking like Keith Richards and smelling like the dead Elvis. Either way, I’ll be a rolling stone walking through a digital strip-search with my shoes on a conveyor belt.

On a side note, I’m still waiting for the day someone tries to blow up a plane with explosive pants. Then the TSA will get to strip us down to our underwear and hilarity will ensue right up until we the people stop putting up with this shit.

Anyway, I digress. I have choices before me, either one leaving me like the walking dead. I would pay good money for the ability to sleep on airplanes, but being 8 feet tall makes that pretty much impossible. I’ll be curled up into the fetal position in American Airlines’ Proletariat Class sucking on bad coffee, immune-system-boosting placebos, and thanking God that I don’t have to take the train or the bus across the country.

Merry Christmas and safe travels to all of you. Trust me, it’s worth it.

Deadline Fever, No UStream Show Tonight

The High Orbit Holiday SpecialBecause I’m so far behind on my goals for The High Orbit Holiday Special, I’m not doing a UStream show tonight. I know, I know, I hate canceling these things too, but I absolutely must finish this project today and this is the only way I’ll have time.

In the mean time, check out the album artwork and let me know what you think!
