Why I Love New Media
Last night’s show at [tag]Bard College[/tag] was really cool (at least I thought so) and I can break it down to nothing less than new media and people-power.
- [tag]Peter Jaros[/tag], a student at Bard, first heard me on the [tag]Daily Source Code[/tag] and worked to get me booked at his college.
- My contacts I’ve made via [tag]Podcasting[/tag], [tag]Second Life[/tag], and [tag]Twitter[/tag] allowed me to make it all the way up to [tag]New York[/tag] without paying for one hotel or sleeping in [tag]The Birdmobile[/tag].
- My volunteer roadie for the night was a friend from SL, [tag]Phil DeCube[/tag], who drove four hours to see the concert. We even got lost in the woods together afterward trying to find the frickin’ highway.
- My live-recording rig centers around my new [tag]MacBook[/tag], paid for by a gig I did for [tag]crayon[/tag], a new marketing company.
- We broadcast the show live by video courtesy of [tag]UStream.tv[/tag]
- People actually showed up for the feed thanks to announcements on Twitter.
I love this whole third-millenium trip. Have I mentioned that enough these days?
