If you remember Beer & Coffee’s release, you’re probably as surprised as I am that Goodbye Planet Earth made it to the iTunes Music Store in less than a month.

GPE Album ArtWell, it’s there! And it’s only $9.99 for the whole album. Granted, if you want high-quality DRM-Free tracks, you’ll need to get it from CD Baby or MySpace, and that’s only $12.99. But if you’re dying to get your copy of the new album from iTunes, it’s there!

    Yeah, B&C; took about 5 or 6 months to get from CD Baby to iTunes. Not good for people trying to release an album, that's for sure!

    Nope, we're talking about See The Sun (their 2005 album) and Passion Leaves A Trace (their 2007 album). Unless they are re-releases of older stuff they made with their label, it's 100% independent. It's probably just a CD Baby-related thing like you said. Ah well, it's not like I can't upgrade my tracks to iTunes Plus later.

    I take it Beer & Coffee took a while to get on iTunes? I'm not so well versed on that.

    Ah, gotcha. Well as for Black Lab, I know that once upon a time they were on a "Major Label™" and perhaps that's the catalog that's available as MP3's. Still, I'm hoping iTunes will give CD Baby clients a bit more flexibility in their store.

    I'm gonna have to stick with iTunes. Don't get me wrong, I like having a physical copy of the album. Here's the thing though: I don't have a credit card and my parents don't have one either, so buying stuff online is almost impossible for me. I have to buy iTunes Gift Cards online in the Apple Store (they also accept bank transfer as a payment option), gift them to myself and redeem the codes. It's kinda nuts, but it's the only way for me to download music legally.

    Strange, I've seen some DRM-free Black Lab albums on iTunes. Maybe it's one of these things that they roll out in phases.

    No, as an indie artist I don't yet have the option of offering DRM-free tracks on iTunes (unless iTunes decides to change that). However, you can still get MP3's legitimately via CD Baby or MySpace. Thanks!

    Do you plan on offering the album in the iTunes Plus format? It's not like I wouldn't buy your stuff otherwise but I'm a Linux user so I'm not able to play DRM'ed tracks unless I put them on my iPod or reboot into Windows. It's just one of these little conveniences, y'know. :)
