The RIAA Wants You To Spy On You.

Edit: Okay, I lied, I’m commenting on the notion that “when people start moving to encryption… they know they’re engaging in illegal conduct.” Apparently you’ve never kept all your financial data on a laptop hard drive before. Maybe you should start suing Apple for including 128-bit system-level encryption on every single Mac. Those Cupertinian bastards are encouraging piracy, I say!

OK, I’m done.

Wow. These clowns need a technical guy to follow them around all the time just to whisper in their ear “That wouldn’t work. It’s a stupid idea.” every time they say something like this.

Though yeah, I’d be perfectly willing to let them run their filtering software on my machine as long as they paid me for the processor time, disk space, RAM usage, and network traffic that they used. My rates can be pretty high, so I doubt they would agree, but I’m not an unreasonable guy.
