It’s Time To Play… Name That Duck!

Okay, I found these little grass-munchers outside our motel room for the last several days. I’ve never seen anything like them before, some kind of ducks or geese. My problem is that I can’t find their species online, and I left my Sibley guide back in Boston! Arrgh!
Anyone think they can help me figure out what the heck these things are?

I don’t know what they are called but we have similar looking ones at a park we frequent here in Southern California. We call them the demented or possessed ducks because the ring around the eyes makes them look positively evil.
Sorry, can’t agree with you on them being gorgeous. I’ll take a regular ol duck any day over those scary looking things.
