You can own a piece of my next album AND help me finance the recording!

I’ve recently become aware of what may be the coolest thing to happen to indie musicians, like, ever. It’s called SellABand. I’ve put myself up as a sort of publicly-traded company and folks like YOU can actually buy a share of my next album. They set the financial goal (I have no control over that), but when I reach it I’ll be doing a lot more than recording in my basement…

If enough of you buy these shares for only $10 each I’ll be paired with a producer, booked for REAL studio time, and given a promotional budget to spread the word. It’s a lot of money, but it’s for a lot more than just recording and duplication of little round discs. Oh, and it’s not a record deal… I’ll still own my own album.

What do you get out of it? Every person who buys a share gets a copy of the album when it’s produced and shares in the revenue for five years. The folks like Jim Farley who sign up for a VIP share? They’ll get a deluxe version of the album and a bunch of extras on top of it. (My Matthew Ebel dot net subscribers will also get a making-of documentary, but that’s another story). The best part is that if I ever decide that this system isn’t going to work out, you get all your money back. Seriously. If there’s no deal, there’s no problem. If the deal happens, you’ve already paid for it!
