I just got back from PodCamp NYC and boy are my feet tired. No, seriously, it’s a ton of walking around and meeting new people.
I’m thrilled that I got to take part in three panels this year, a couple with both Ariel Hyatt from Ariel Publicity and Dan Patterson from the UN. I think it’s the first time I met Ariel and she’s a wonderful person (if you’re a musician like me, you ought to be paying attention to her). Dan I’ve met before, but I’m glad I got to know him a lot better this time around.
I also did my own panel, the usual “Audio Production 101″ with quite a few revisions. Fortunately, everyone seems to have real positive feedback about it. If you’re interested in seeing it for yourself, I posted the slideshow with narration here.
There was also the concert, otherwise known as “Chel conned the hotel into letting me use their piano, just add Twitter, and presto.” I had a blast, and hopefully we didn’t scare the Italian tourists that hung around to watch. I hear there’s a recording that might surface, but that’ll most likely become part of Virtual Hot Wings since it’s basically a really close-up bootleg. (If it DOES show up there, you’ll find it at virtualhotwings.com of course)
Now that it’s all over, though, I hope I can stay as well connected with folks via Facebook, Twitter, and the like as I can with a handshake. It’s always more fun meeting people in person, so hopefully I’ll get to do this again soon. Maybe PodCamp Philly in September?
