Technical Requirements

For All Gigs:

  • 6′ x 10′ (2m x 3M) flat stage space.
  • Indoor or well-sheltered stage space. If outside, must be rainproof and not in direct sunlight
    • Electronics hate rain
    • Electronics hate heat (like anything above 75°F (24°C))
    • I can deal with either, but the robots call the shots.
  • Grounded power outlet within 10′ (3M) of center stage.
    • Circuit must have enough amperage available (not sure on specific number)
  • Music Performance sound system (a lectern doesn’t cut it)
    • 2-6 1/4″ mono inputs on mixing board, preferably 6
    • Inputs must be within 10′ (3M) of center stage
    • Main speakers suited for room
    • 1 or more on-stage monitors if possible
    • Amplification
  • Adequate Stage Lighting
    • Track lighting will do, but the house should be dimmable to put focus on stage
    • Matthew does not own and cannot provide any stage lighting
  • Merchandise table (just a place to set up CD’s, stickers, and an email sign-up)
  • 1-2 Assistants (For non-club gigs)
    • Live sound tech for sound check and during performance
    • Merch table attendant during performance
    • One person can do both tasks if necessary.
  • OPTIONAL: High-speed internet for video streaming
    • Matthew can provide everything necessary for UStream
    • A dedicated camera operator would be nice, if possible

For Fly-To Gigs:

  • Digital Piano
    • 88 fully-weighted keys
    • Midi-out port (MIDI or USB)
    • Keyboard stand to raise top of key bed 39″ (1M) high

Matthew Can Provide:

  • M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 Keyboard (Drive-to gigs only!)
  • 2-tier Keyboard Stand (Drive-to gigs only!)
  • Roland KC-550 130w Keyboard Amp (Drive-to gigs only!)
  • Sennheiser Wireless Mic System
  • Sennheiser Wireless Monitor System
  • 10′ (3M) 8-channel 1/4″ balanced snake
  • 10′ (3M) 6-outlet power strip.

Sound Check, Setup, and Performance Time:

Convention Stages

  • Matthew would like a full hour for setup and sound check earlier on the day of the performance.
    • If possible, he’ll leave his equipment set up on stage until performance time.
    • If stage is needed between sound test and performance, secure offstage space will be necessary.
  • If a merch table is being provided at the concert, Matthew will also need 15 minutes to set that up after sound test and before warmup time.
  • Matthew will need 15-30 minutes immediately prior to show time for warmup and preparation, done offstage while people take their seats.
  • Matthew will need 15-30 minutes immediately after performance to talk with fans and sign CD’s at his merch table.
  • After the crowd disappears, Matthew will need another 15 minutes to tear down his equipment.
    • If stage is needed immediately after show, venue stage hands will need to move Matthew’s equipment carefully to secure offstage area where he can pack up later.
  • Example: A 90-minute show should have at least a 2-hour time block on the schedule with another hour for sound check earlier when the room’s not busy.
